Class AAA Girls
100 Meter Dash
Jefferson's Brittany Carr took her 3rd consecutive 100 Meter title by 0.06 over Washington's
Jasmyn Hosby. Region II took four of the six places, including the top 3.
RunWV's Current Score: 5 of 6.
200 Meter Dash
Washington's Jasmyn Hosby led a parade of four runners under 26 seconds in taking
the title.
RunWV's Current Score 10 of 12.
400 Meter Dash
Cabell Midland's Danielle Winningham pulled away from Spring Valley's Savannah Rutherford
and Hurricane's Josie Crouch as the "Big 3" each ran under 58 seconds. No one else cracked the
60 second barrier. Winningham's 56.85 is the 5th Best All-Time State Meet Performance and the
4th Best Class AAA State Meet Performance and the 2nd Best Class AAA State Meet Performance
this Decade. Rutherford's 57.70 stands as the 6th Best Class AAA State Meet Performance this
decade. One of my predicted placers did not run.
RunWV's Current Score: 15 of 18.
800 Meter Run
Hurricane's Josie Crouch blew away the field in defending her 800 Meter title. Her 2:14.53 time
was nearly 6 seconds ahead of the competition and stands as the 3rd Best All-Time State Meet Performance
and the 2nd Best Class AAA State Meet Performance, and the 2nd Best Class AAA State Meet
Performance this decade. Elkins' Letitia Propst pulled into 2nd down the stretch as the next
seven runners finished within 2.63 seconds. The top 8 were all under 2:23.
RunWV's Current Score: 20 of 24.
1600 Meter Run
Hurricane's Alex Dent took the field out hard. She went through the first lap in 69 seconds.
She was tailed closely by Elkins' Maddie Basil. Winfield's Megan Truelove was running
in 3rd. Preston's Ari Kasprowicz and Jefferson's Andrea Nickerson were the next through.
Dent continued to lead through the 800 Meter mark, coming through in 2:27. Kasprowicz had moved up to
2nd in 2:30. Basil was holding 3rd. Wheeling Park's Courtney Yaeger had moved into 4th.
Truelove was holding 5th, and Nickerson was in 6th. Kasprowicz made the pass for the lead just past
the 1000 Meter Mark, and by the end of the 3rd lap, she had extended the lead to 3 seconds over Dent.
Basil and Yaeger crossed together about 9 seconds back. They were followed closely by Nickerson about
1 second later. Truelove followed another second later with University's Sarah Martinelli right
on her heels. Kasprowicz closed in 76 to finish in 5:01.43 which stands as the 4th Best All Time
State Meet Performance and the 4th Best Class AAA State Meet Performance, and the 4th Best
Class AAA State Meet Performance this Decade. Dent held on for 2nd in 5:08.63, which was good
enough to be the 10th Best Class AAA State Meet Performance. Nickerson closed in 71 and Martinelli
closed in 70. The pair crossed simultaneously, but Nickerson had the slightly better lean to take 3rd.
Cabell Midland's Rachel Williams used a big last lap to move up to 5th. Yaeger held on for 6th.
Basil and Truelove also finished in under 5:20.
RunWV's Current Score: 24 of 30.
3200 Meter Run
Hurricane's Alex Dent, Preston's Ari Kasprowicz, Jefferson's Alyssa Boucher,
and Winfield's Megan Truelove took the field out in 1:19. Dent and Kasprowicz remained together
through the 800 at 2:39. Boucher followed in 2:41. Elkins' Letitia Propst, Morgantown's
Allison Petti, and Truelove followed in 2:42. Kasprowicz took the lead toward the end of lap 3,
crossing in 3:58. Dent followed in 3:59. Boucher was next through in 4:05, followed by Propst in
4:06, and Pettit and Truelove in 4:07. At the 1600 Meter Mark, it was Kasprowicz pulling away, crossing
in 5:18. Dent came through in 5:25. Truelove came through in 5:32. Propst, Pettit, and Boucher
crossed in 5:33 with University's Sarah Martinelli coming through in 5:35. After 6 laps,
Kasprowicz had moved to the front by 28 seconds. Dent remained in 2nd. Propst, Pettit, Truelove,
and Martinelli were just 2 seconds behind. Boucher was just another second back. After 7 laps,
Kasprowicz's lead was up to 31 seconds. Dent remained in 2nd, but Propst, Truelove, and Martinelli
were right on her heels. Pettit was just a second off the pace. Boucher had fallen back by 5 more
seconds. Lap 7 had been Kasprowicz's slowest lap. At this point, the only question was whether or
not she could hold up well enough to get the record. No problem. The last lap was her slowest, but
is was good enough to cross in 10:49.15, good enough to break the record by 6 seconds. The time gave
Kasprowicz the Best All-Time State Meet Performance and the Best Class AAA State Meet
Performance and the Best Class AAA State Meet Performance this Decade. Propst closed in
74 to finish in 11:09.78, good enough to be the 9th Best Class AAA State Meet Performance and
the 6th Best Class AAA State Meet Performance this Decade. Martinelli also closed strong to
finish a very solid 3rd. Pettit edged out Truelove for 4th. Dent held on for 6th. The top 5 ran
11:15 or better. The top 7 ran 11:30 or better.
RunWV's Current Score: 28 of 36.
100 Meter High Hurdles
Jefferson's Taylor Brown ran away from the field, winning by over 0.6 seconds. Winfield's
Valerie Kirk was the only other competitor to go under 16 seconds. Browns 15.08 time in the
trials was good enough to be the 10th Best Class AAA State Meet Performance and the 5th
Best Class AAA State Meet Performance this Decade.
RunWV's Current Score: 32 of 42.
300 Meter Low Hurdles
Jefferson's Taylor Brown crushed the field by over 1.5 seconds and broke the State Meet Record.

RunWV's Current Score: 36 of 48.
4x100 Meter Relay
This was the best 4x100 field our State Meet has ever seen. Jefferson became the first school to ever

Meet Performance and the 2nd Best Class AAA State Meet Performance and the 2nd Best Class

also clocked in under 9:45. Jefferson and North Marion came in under 10:00.
RunWV's Current Score: 56 of 72.
Shuttle Hurdle Relay
Wheeling Park crushed the field for the 2nd year in a row, winning by over 2 seconds again. That 1)04.18 will
give the unit of Mirand Rios, Ashley Dolan, Alicia Bonar, and Hannah Gompers the State Meet Record
and the Best All Time State Meet Performance and the Best Class AAA State Meet Performance
and the Best Class AAA State Meet Performance this Decade. Woodrow Wilson and Winfield also ran
under 1:07.

were the only other jumpers to surpass 16'.
RunWV's Current Score: 64 of 84.

Pole Vault
Hurricane's Jaclyn Schiffour was the only vaulter to top 10'0. Wheeling Park's Emma Dolan
was the only other vaulter to clear 9'6.
RunWV's Current Score: 83 of 108.
The final score of 83 of 108 means that 76.9 % of the people picked to place did indeed place. Congratulations to those that proved me wrong.
